Tempe, AZ (September 20, 2021) – Rosendin, the electrical contracting industry’s largest employee-owned company in the nation, has been recognized as an industry leader by Engineering News Record magazine (ENR). In its September edition, ENR Southwest named Rosendin its 2021 Specialty Contractor of the Year for its devotion to technological innovation and supporting their employees’ growth.

As a large-scale industrial and electrical contractor, Rosendin has worked on multiple landmark projects in Arizona that have supported the vitality of the state. These projects include the Tempe Streetcar, Phoenix’s Veterans Affairs Clinic, Downtown Phoenix Court Tower, Scottsdale Stadium renovations, Las Vegas City Center, Townsite Solar Facility, and a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Chandler. Rosendin’s Tempe regional office is growing rapidly and recently announced the need to hire 500 workers before the end of the year to help build the new Mesa Data Center in the East Valley. In Phoenix alone, Rosendin has been active on 70 different project sites.

“Recognitions like these cannot be achieved without our strong team of craft workers who have worked so hard to make our projects into a reality,” says Brandon Stephens, Operations Manager. “At Rosendin, we know our most important asset are our employees, so we continuously give back to them by developing innovative solutions to make building easier while keeping work environments safe and positive. Nothing is more important to us than supporting the growth of our skilled workers.”

The electrical contracting company utilizes emerging technologies to set them apart in the industry and uses them to promote safety and efficiency in the workplace for their employees. They utilize building information modeling (BIM), engineering, instrumentation and controls, and service and maintenance. To expand on their services, they also utilize design-assist, design-build, integrated project delivery and prefabrication.

Rosendin works to create an environment that people feel safe to work in and have respect for one another. Rosendin’s core value of “We Care” is reflected in their many efforts to support and help their employees to grow by recognizing their skills and developing them further. The electrical contracting company’s mission is to “build people” by providing training programs to continue their employees’ education and help every individual to succeed. Rosendin also provides the opportunity for their new employees to stop work if they feel unsafe doing a task by allowing them to use a “stop work” card to encourage workplace safety. Steps like these have helped the company to have a total recordable incident rate (TRIR) of 0.57 for 1.4 million worker hours in Arizona for 2020, and .56 for 11.8 million workers nationwide.

“We are so appreciative for our relationship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and our shared value of human security,” says Ben Mlinar, Rosendin Division Manager. “During recruitment periods like right now, the IBEW always provides us with a stable and trusted workforce of qualified electricians who are excited to be part of high-profile projects, and we encourage anyone who is interested in a great career to look into their apprenticeship program.”

The rapidly growing electrical contracting company’s Southwest operations saw a gain of approximately $220 million over the last year. To match that growth, Rosendin plans to expand its workforce to include an additional 1,000 new employees in Arizona by May 2022. They promote an inclusive workforce and expanded training opportunities for skilled and entry level workers interested in construction, project management, engineering, technology, office management, and other career paths.
