The Valley Metro Tempe Streetcar Project is the first modern streetcar line in the valley, consisting of a three-mile track connecting ASU, surrounding residential neighborhoods, The Rio Salado Parkway Corridor, Downtown Tempe, and Mill Avenue. The streetcar line consists of 14 station stops, with two of those stations connecting to the existing light rail system, and is slated to open in the summer of 2021. This project has an overall approximate valuation of $192 Million.
The electrical scope for Rosendin Electric included duct bank, electrical, and grounding work; 120,000+ feet of conduit, 400 ground rods, ground grid, and power for all 14 stations on the three-mile track. This project also included unique features such as a Hybrid battery for off-wire design through downtown Mill and at gateway intersections and the first roundabout in Tempe that the streetcar passes through it at the Tempe Beach Park Stop. The Rosendin team worked full-time on this project from the fall of 2018 until scope completion in early 2021.
