Rosendin

Originally opened in 1923, California Memorial Stadium at the University of California, Berkeley is on the US National Register of Historic Places. Built on the Hayward Fault, the walls of the facility began to separate, and the stadium received a “poor” earthquake rating in 1998. The University decided to renovate rather than destroy the stadium. Renovations of the athletic facility were completed in three phases and took two years to complete. The west side of the stadium was demolished (except for the historic façade) and rebuilt, allowing the University to make the venue seismically safe, and add modern restrooms, press box and concession stands. The east side has remained relatively unchanged. Rosendin’s role in this historic renovation included power distribution, architectural and sports lighting, infrastructure for new audio-visual system and power for concessions and signage. Rosendin also installed a modern telecommunications network, fire detection, and alarm systems.
