Boulder City, NV (June 10, 2021) – Arevon and Rosendin’s Renewable Energy Group (REG) are proud to welcome Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Nevada Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) for a special tour of the Townsite Solar Facility in Boulder City, Nevada this Friday, June 11. Secretary Granholm and Congresswoman Lee will meet with company representatives and craft workers from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 357 about the future of clean energy jobs.

Arevon, a global provider and North America’s leading renewable energy company, teamed up for this solar energy project with Rosendin, the largest employee-owned electrical contractor and one of the fastest growing renewable energy groups in the country. The Secretary and Congresswoman will also meet with Arevon’s CEO Justin Johnson; Rosendin Division Manager Chris Meiers, and IBEW 357 Political Director Ronnie Young.

The Townsite Solar Facility is located in Boulder City, approximately 25 miles south of Las Vegas. Since the project began in November 2020 it has generated hundreds of jobs and resulted in over 147,000 labor hours through May 2021. The IBEW union has been critical to the success of this clean energy project and provides a reliable workforce to ensure high standards are met.

The 1,053-acre Townsite Solar Facility incorporates 528,084 First Solar’s Series 6™ photovoltaic (PV) modules for a peak capacity of 232 MW DC/193.95 MC AC. Power generated on-site will be distributed underground to a 230kV substation and overhead generation tie line to the Mead Substation just outside Boulder City.

Once completed at the end of 2021, Townsite will generate more than 500,000 MWh per year of renewable energy, enough to power 60,000 homes annually, avoiding 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Secretary Granholm’s trip to Nevada is focused on the American Jobs Plan and its investments to build a clean energy economy that creates millions of good paying jobs, saves consumers money and reduces the health impacts of pollution.
