Rosendin was contracted by Recurrent Energy to design and build the $12.5 million battery energy storage system (BESS) in Fresno County, California. This 72 MWac/288 MWh BESS project was added to the pre-existing 200 MW Tranquillity Solar facility. Tranquillity BESS used Powin batteries to provide four hours of battery storage to the grid, enhancing resource capacity by conserving clean, solar energy to be used during peak demand.
Although Recurrent Energy had solar the Tranquillity Solar project to Southern Power and AIP Management once it was developed, Recurrent agreed to provide development services to add the BESS component, contracting Rosendin to provide EPC services. The Tranquillity BESS project will increase the amount of clean power available on the grid during evening hours, significantly improving the function and utility of the Tranquillity Solar facility.
