San Jose, CA (May XX, 2021) – In the construction industry, safety extends beyond gloves, glasses, and harnesses. In fact, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, and financial concerns are behind a large number of workplace incidents. That’s why Rosendin, the nation’s largest employee-owned electrical contractor, dedicated its activities to the importance of creating a safe work environment during this year’s annual Construction Safety Week, May 3-7.

“Rosendin relies on thousands of craft workers to successfully build some of the largest projects in the country, and so it is our duty to help workers recognize and prevent harm of any kind, whether it is caused by a mistake, a distraction, an innocent fall of the stairs, or an intentional act of hate toward a coworker,” said Marty Rouse, Vice President of Safety at Rosendin. “Rosendin is committed to providing a safe workplace for both bodies and minds so that every team member can do their best work and return home safely to their families each night.”

Construction Safety Week is an opportunity for Rosendin to cover a different topic each day related to this year’s theme of holistic safety and being present, focused, and safe. Safety is more than personal protective equipment and preventing physical injuries, but includes mental health and safe, welcoming work environments for all. Rosendin produced and released each day of Construction Safety Week to educate workers about important topics. The following videos are available on Rosendin’s YouTube Channel (https://youtu.be/eiyRWDQ1bBQ) and at www.rosendin.com/safetyweek2021.

Monday, May 3 – Be Present, Be Focused, Be Safe: Rosendin supports its workforce to ensure every employee returns home safe at the end of each day unharmed emotionally or physically. On the first day of Construction Safety Week, Rosendin employees engaged in a safety moment discussion to help identify and prevent physical and mental factors that can lead to injuries, and how to bring their safest, most productive, best selves to work every day.

Tuesday, May 4 – Job, Office, and Driving Safety: Safety concerns and prevention are not limited to the job site. Rosendin dedicated the second day to an overview of the company’s safety protocols in the field, the office, at home, and when driving. These include inspecting fall protection equipment, keeping filing cabinets closed and cords out of walkways, following ladder safety rules, avoiding distractions on the road, etc.

Wednesday, May 5 – Culture of Care and Rosendin Foundation: Rosendin employees across the country celebrated the third day with a comprehensive look at the company’s commitment to inclusiveness and community support. Rosendin strives to ensure that every individual has the right to a work environment free from harassment, hazing, and bullying, which is why the company has a Zero Tolerance Policy. The company’s Culture of Care extends to supporting racial justice efforts through awareness campaigns and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including We LEAD (women’s group), PRIDE and Proud (LGBTQ++), and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color).

In addition, the Rosendin Foundation positively impacts communities, builds and empowers people, and inspires innovation where Rosendin and Modular Power Solutions (MPS) employees work and live. The foundation partners with community-focused non-profit organizations to support health, including emotional, nutritional, and occupational programs. In 2020, The Foundation donated more than $150,000 in emergency grants to non-profit organizations across the country.

Thursday, May 6 – Craft Empowerment Program “Your voice and what it means on Rosendin Projects.” On day four, Rosendin touched on their Craft Empowerment Program (CEP) that gives craft employees a voice, shows them respect, and asks for feedback and opinions on improving field operations from safety to production. To date, this program has positively affected worker morale on Rosendin’s projects

Friday, May 7 – Employee Appreciation: On the last day of Construction Safety Week, each office and project site recognized employees and reviewed safety goals and performance with project teams.

“Safety includes PPE, educational programs, recurring training, mental awareness education, community support, and much more,” said Rouse. “We at Rosendin are upholding high standards and developing several programs to eliminate risk, prevent incidents and promote safety overall.”

Rosendin’s commitment to safety through meaningful action and permanent solutions is rooted in its core values: “We Care. We Share. We Listen. We Innovate. We Excel.” The electrical contracting company employs over 6,500 people working across the country and promotes an inclusive workforce for skilled and unskilled workers interested in construction, engineering, technology, office management, and other career paths.
