The first time he’s told this story, Tinoco shares details on the accident, explaining how he nearly died that day (had it not been for his co-worker’s quick thinking) and emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for safety.

“Safety is everyone’s responsibility, which means we cannot turn a blind eye to unsafe work practices, improper use of PPE, site harassment, discrimination — all of these things are unacceptable,” says Rosendin’s Executive Vice President, Justin Tinoco, in a sobering video in which he describes the moment when he was buried alive in a trench as a third-year apprentice and how his co-worker’s responsibility for him saved his life. “And we need to look out for our brothers and sisters who are working with us every day.”

The first time he’s told this story, Tinoco shares details on the accident, explaining how he nearly died that day (had it not been for his co-worker’s quick thinking) and emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for safety. This is just one component of how Rosendin is emphasizing its commitment to safety standards during Construction Safety Week, which was celebrated September 14-18. In addition to educating workers and the public about physical dangers related to safety, the company is also providing valuable information about mental stressors through a series of educational videos, personal stories, and practical tips online. Visit its new safety landing page and look for more summaries coming to ecmweb.com that highlight some of the great content on this site.
