Phoenix (November 11, 2020) – As the nation honors its veterans this November 11, local veterans are among those working to ensure those who serve will have better access to health care when they return home to the Valley. Military veterans working for Rosendin, one of the nation’s largest employee-owned electrical contracting companies, and Jacobsen Construction, one of the top-ranked general contractors in the country, are helping build what will soon be one of America’s largest VA outpatient clinics.
For the past year, construction teams have been building the new 5-story Dept. of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic near the corner of 32nd Street and Van Buren Street in Phoenix. When completed in late 2021, the clinic will serve half a million people a year using a new patient-driven, team-based approach to health care focused on wellness and prevention.
“As a veteran of the U.S Air Force embedded with units on the front lines, I experienced the difficult conditions that our military members endure protecting our country,” said Roberto Villegas, Rosendin Assistant Project Manager. “It gives me great pride to help build this innovative new health clinic in my community that will provide the best care for my brothers and sisters when they return home.”
On November 11, 2020, Rosendin and Jacobsen leaders working on the VA Outpatient Clinic brought teams together to celebrate veterans for their sacrifices on behalf of our country. Veterans led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, which will be shared on social media as part of the national #VetDayPledge campaign. Rosendin and Jacobsen also treated Veterans working on the job site to lunch and set up a Veterans appreciation board for anyone to sign.
Veterans at Rosendin have been donating their time to renovate the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum in Alameda, CA. Rosendin also helped set up temporary field hospitals during the early days of the coronavirus response in spring of 2020. The company also holds annual fundraisers for nonprofit groups that support military members and their families, including $1 million raised to date for the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Jacobsen recently constructed several state-of-the-art outpatient clinics for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Colorado Springs, Colorado; San Jose, California; and Laredo, Texas. Jacobsen is also currently building clinics serving veterans in Lubbock and San Antonio, Texas, and will soon be doing the same in Corpus Christi. Other military projects completed by Jacobsen include its award-winning construction of the Camp Williams Center, a magnificent training complex for the men and women serving in the Utah National Guard Special Forces.
