It’s not often that a business can throw a 100th anniversary bash.

But that’s exactly what Rosendin Electric did at its Prineville division facility Thursday evening.

The party scene was loaded with blue décor and 100th anniversary logos throughout as many leaders and employees throughout the company enjoyed a festive evening.

Rosendin Electric was founded by Moses Rosendin in 1919, and for many years, it was a family-run operation.

“It was passed on through the family, and when the family was ready to retire, they gave it to their employees and converted it to an employee-owned company,” said Gwen Carr, business development manager for Rosendin’s Prineville division. She added that the company has been 100% employee-owned for the past 25 years.

“Rosendin Electric is the largest employee-owned electrical company in the United States,” Carr said.

Rosendin focuses primarily on large-scale commercial projects. Though the company has been in business for a century, they are a relatively new business at the Baldwin Industrial Park on the west end of town.

“In 2009, they sent a team down here to work on the data centers,” Carr said. “That is what brought us to Prineville, basically out of the Hillsboro division.”

The Hillsboro division, started in 1997, is one of many in the Rosendin company throughout the country.

“Every division is a little bit different,” Carr said of the current company structure. She noted that it depends on the region, and there are some that have a renewable energy arm and focus on solar and wind power.

This past year, the local facility joined the list of Rosendin divisions. The Prineville division serves all of Central Oregon, focusing primarily on data center work.

“We have had other small projects, but nothing to the scale of the data center work,” Carr said.

The Prineville division employs a somewhat fluid but high number of employees, depending on need. Currently, about 550 people work for the local division.

When it came time to celebrate a century in business, Rosendin wanted to throw a party worthy of such a milestone.

“It was a really exciting time for our company to share that with our staff, our customers, our clients, our vendors and our community,” Carr stated.

The company turned to Firefly Events, a Prineville business that specializes in event planning. They didn’t disappoint. Carr noted that they did a phenomenal job of incorporating the company brand and its 100-year milestone into the décor and “worked with all local vendors to create each one of the branded pieces.”

“As much as we can, we are going to support our local community,” she added.

Going forward, Rosendin looks forward to beginning the next hundred years of business, now with the Prineville division in the fold.

“Becoming our own division in 2019, we are going to continue to look for projects. We are still looking at larger scale commercial projects where our expertise lies,” Carr said.

And Rosendin will continue efforts to support the community in whatever ways it can. Carr points out that the company is completing all of the electrical work for Prineville’s new splash pad, they are serving as the title sponsor for Crook County Booster Club’s Athlete of the Year Dinner, and have engaged with the local Hospice Auction for the past few years.

“We are really proud to have Prineville as home and will continue to look at how we can give back to this community,” Carr said.
