I have developed many strong relationships, both internally and externally, but my greatest accomplishment has been helping others grow professionally by guiding them to see past limitations.

At Rosendin, I am able to learn and grow both personally and professionally. Employees on both the field and office side have helped me learn so much about electrical construction. The time people have taken out of their schedules to help me be successful has made me feel valued as both an employee and as an individual. As employee-owners, the people take more ownership of their careers and the success of the organization. There is a sense of comradery that we are all in this together. Success is not just about the individual, it is about the success of all employees as well as the organization.

The most surprising part about being a woman in construction is that the acceptance has changed from when I started to now. It’s much easier to jump in with everybody and be accepted.

Jenica B.

“I went through the Intern Boot Camp at Rosendin’s Headquarters in California in 2015 and there were no more than 15 total interns that attended. At the end of my internship, I went back to school and took a few weeks to think things over, and before the next career fair even started I had already accepted a full-time position with Rosendin as an Assistant Project Manager. As a whole, the company has been awesome so far and I see a lot of things that are headed in the right direction with always looking forward, willingness to change, and at the same time a willingness to change something if there is a better way to do it. Rosendin allows their interns to fit best to the path that they want.

In 1997, I was working for a supply house and heard the benefits at Rosendin were better than what I was currently getting, and I’ve been here ever since. It is rare to hear about a company that cares so much about their employees, and how every action we take affects them, but everyone you work with here has one goal in mind, getting the task done. Being an employee-owner means that the decisions I make affect my future and the future of my fellow employees. That makes me put a bit extra into each decision made.

Kyle S.

”I explained to our team why we perform quality on each project, and why it’s important to avoid any unnecessary rework. It makes me feel good that they are proud of their craftsmanship when the project is done right.”

Christina T.

I am motivated by the opportunity to make a positive impact not only on a project but also on those I work with, creating an environment of growth for all. I am passionate about the work I do and strive to exceed expectations in order to ensure the project I am on is successful and the goals are achieved.

I was looking for a career change, and with no knowledge about the Construction Industry and Project Management, joining the Rosendin 2022 Summer Internship Program was a blessing in disguise. Throughout my internship, there was never a moment where I wasn’t learning. I was challenged, kept curious, and eager to learn more. When offered to come on full-time, there was no hesitation in accepting the offer. New to the industry, I was faced with moments of imposter syndrome. However, it’s a different motivation and drive when your mentor, team, and company believe in you and invest in your growth. At Rosendin, the opportunities to grow your career are abundant. You won’t be pigeonholed to just one role and department. If you want to venture into another department and are willing to learn and have a strong work ethic – the possibilities are endless. Rosendin is like a treasure chest! You have the key to unlock all the endless gems that Rosendin has to offer.

Nichole T.
Assistant Project Manager

I had the opportunity to work with several other contractors during my college internships, and I value each one of those experiences. The last internship I did was with Rosendin, and I immediately knew that this was going to be where I was going to spend my career. The way Rosendin conducts business and invests in its employees is what sets us apart from other contractors. There are a certain drive and motivation at Rosendin that can be contagious where people are motivated to succeed and constantly improve. At my age, that is the most important thing to me – being constantly motivated and moving forward.

I still feel like I’m working toward an ultimate goal of making the industry more accepting of and accessible to women and other minorities. Every time a new woman is hired in my office, I get excited to see the scales tip a little more.

Dani S.
Project Manager
Oregon

“I try not to let anything about who I am be a challenge or a disadvantage. As a woman in this industry, when I go to work each day everyone is on the same playing field, regardless of gender.”

Jammie B.

Take the chance. Do not be afraid. Do not let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. Don’t let biases take you away from your dream (of a being a woman in construction).”

“My time in the Navy taught me the importance of respect for others, teamwork, empowerment and most importantly the trust in others. I also learned from my leaders in the Navy the importance and understanding of empowerment. Whether it is as a Foreman out in the field or a Project Manager in the office, a good leader empowers and challenges their team to take on the tasks they have been trained to do so that they can learn from their experiences so that they feel as though they are part of the success and/or failure of an operation.”

“The United States Marine Corps gave me the tools required to manage a large workload in an efficient manner.”

“I still use the knowledge I gained from my military career and apply my past experiences to my everyday life. I take pride in being able to adapt and overcome change when it is least expected. There is a sense of brother and sisterhood out there on the sites, and it all comes from mutual respect regardless of who you are or where you come from, a positive atmosphere, and knowing you have support out there. We are all on the same team, working towards the same goal.”

The military is much like construction – initial plans are often not the final plan; requires intensive teamwork; proper equipment, planning and discipline have a marked improvement on the outcome; and finally, the group will always have to overcome adversity.

“Many aspects of the military have come into play in my career as an electrician to include discipline, perseverance, organization, team mentality, learning how to follow before leading, resourcefulness, and communication.”

“My time in the Navy Seabees helped me succeed as a project manager because I learned to bring the team spirit to all that I do. Rosendin has supported me as a veteran and supports veterans in our company as a whole. They have provided sponsorships and donations to the Seabees and CEC historical societies, and I have been proud to represent my company at the San Diego Seabees Awards Banquet. Rosendin provides all the support one could need to succeed.”
