What is the biggest challenge facing women who want to take on leadership roles? Thinking they lack all the qualifications. I have taken advice given to me and Iāve been instilling it into the younger generations of women leaders: They need to advocate for themselves, speak up and be confident in their accomplishments.
What female business icon do you admire? Sheryl Sandberg, (former) chief operating officer of Meta Platforms. Her dedication and advocacy to empowering women is very inspirational. To read her books and see that she has had some of the same struggles as the rest of us and to learn from the advice she has given to help us overcome is powerful.
What moment in your career are you most proud of? Being the first vice president in my company and paving the path for future women.
Who has been your most supportive mentor? Willie Micene, regional vice president at Rosendin, pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and be confident in what I was capable of and go for the position I wanted.
What is something about you that would surprise others? I love to gamble.
First job: Taco Bravo at the mall when I was 15 ½.
