Anaheim, CA (April 4, 2022) – Anaheim employees from Rosendin, the nation’s largest employee-owned electrical contractor, raised over $53,000 in the fight against heart disease and stroke. The California construction company sponsored 13 teams with 180 workers who raised money and participated in the 2022 Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk, held April 2, 2022. This year’s walk for the American Heart Association raised at least $1.29 million.
It was an especially meaningful victory for Rosendin as they recently lost their Regional Safety Director, Kelly Wright, to heart failure.
“I am very proud of our team and their ability to come together for a cause that has been important to our family for many years now,” says Ray Nelson, Rosendin Project Manager.“This year it really hit home. We lost one of our co-workers, a family member, and a friend, Kelly, to heart failure. We do this in his memory.”
As Rosendin’s Anaheim Regional Safety Director, Wright dedicated over 8 years to ensuring employees had safe environments while working on some of the highest profile projects in Southern California, including SoFi Stadium. He also worked on Rosendin’s renewable energy projects. Wright was known for his relentless passion for safety, always looking out for his colleagues.
More than 2,000 people participated in the Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk including several construction teams. McCarthy Building Companies again took the top spot for company teams by collecting over $140,000. McCarthy and Rosendin have been construction industry partners for over 15 years in Southern California. Their collaborative projects include the Tarzana Medical Center, VTA BART Stations, Santa Clara Square Parking Facility, Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Medical Office Building, LACCD Valley Monarch Center, Santa Monica High School, and the UC Berkeley Student Center Upgrade.
“We are proud of our team and our industry partners for participating in this event, because we all know someone who suffered from heart disease, stroke or heart attack and we know how important it is to give back,” said Paolo Degrassi, Rosendin President.
“Our company fosters a giving culture that cares about its employees and the communities where we live, and work and we support our Anaheim community.”
The American Heart Association started the annual Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk to unite the community in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Funds raised from the April 2 event go towards helping physicians prevent and treat heart disease, as well as groundbreaking pediatric heart and stroke research.
